Our latest success story! We recently helped our friend, Steve, find his perfect match. Koda is a 10-year-old, sorrel and white Tobiano Paint gelding that is just as nice as they come. Koda and Steve hit it off from the very beginning. It was told to us that this gelding misbehaves - does not get along well with other horses, rears, is hard to catch and is aggressive. Well, you could see his whole demeanor change the second Steve stepped up into the stirrup and they have been getting along famously ever since! Steve can walk into his stall and Koda will walk right up to him. We have put him in a turn out with another horse and they are getting along just fine - no issues at all. We intend to introduce him to our herd that is kept in our natural boarding area so that he can once again interact with others and be a horse!! We are very excited to see this relationship grow and prosper!
CONGRATULATIONS STEVE AND KODA!!! |

What a great match! Bo is a 12-year-old, dark bay gelding that we purchased last year. He had not been ridden in three years and had pretty much become a lawn ornament. Bo had some issues that needed to be addressed - mainly, he crow-hopped when you asked him to lope. Jim and I brought him home and we worked with him slowly. We started his training from the very basics - GROUNDWORK, GROUNDWORK, GROUNDWORK! His training progressed at a moderate pass so as not to stress him during his re-introduction to the great outdoors. When it came time to start riding out there was no stopping Bo. He had found all the fun and excitement he had been missing the past three years! During his stay with us, our neighbor and friend, David, really connected with Bo. When Bo was ready, David took the reins and they have been riding buddies ever since. The picture at left is from our camping trip to the Houston Mesa Campground in Payson. What a great time we all had!! CONGRATULATIONS DAVID AND BO!!! |

A diamond in the rough! Sky is a 7-year-old black and white Tobiano Paint mare. We helped Marcella purchase Sky last year. She was not broke and had not been introduced to much outside of the acreage that she lived on. She had had some groundwork, but nothing more. We brought her home and put her into training. Of course, as with all of our horses, we started with the basics. You can see pictures of her training transformation on our Training page. She caught on to the ground driving quickly and soon Sky and I were out on the trails! Her training with me lasted about 60 days before I turned her over to Marcella. The two of them have been great partners ever since. This picture is also from our trip to the Houston Mesa Campground. It was Sky's first experience camping and she loved every minute of it!! We are all looking forward to our next trip! CONGRATULATIONS MARCELLA AND SKY!!! |

50-mile Endurance Ride Competitor! Copper is a 5-year-old Tenessee Walking Horse. We sold Copper about a year and a half ago to a great guy looking for his next equine companion that he could take on hunting expeditions. Recently, we received this update from Eric and Copper: Hi Malia, just wanted to send you some pictures of Copper. We completed our first 50 mile endurance ride in Wickenburg last weekend. Our ride time was 7.5 hours. Copper was full of steam and as smooth as glass..Look at his feet, he is barefoot. We actually are sponsered by Renegade hoof boots. Copper is the poster horse for all gaited breeds. Don't be surprised to open a horse magazine someday and see him..The last endurance ride Copper was at was this ride 1 year ago, we did the 25..We trained all year and traveled all over the western U.S. learning how to camp ect. I couldn't be happier with him.. We are headed to Cima next weekend to do another 50, he shows no sighns of being tired or sore from the last. I ride with my vet and she is floored by what a TWH with proper conditioning can do!! I just wanted to say thank you again for such a wonderful horse. I will keep you updated with his success. This just might be a Tevis Cup horse 100 miles in 1 day, maybe in 2010. Talk to ya later Eric Phelps and Copper... (30 Jan 2007) Keep up the good work! CONGRATULATIONS ERIC AND COPPER!!! |
